Terms of Service
The terms for using Riali.
1. Who we are
Riali is a nutrition guidance app for athletes and active people, run by Simani Abuyu Regau, based in Nairobi, Kenya. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Riali. You can reach us at team@riali.app.
By creating an account or using Riali, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.
2. What Riali is, and what it isn't
Riali gives general food guidance built around your training: daily amounts, a shopping list with estimated prices, reminders and logs. It is not medical advice, and we are not doctors or dietitians.
Riali shows this guidance as pictures, plates, amounts and lists for you to use as you see fit. It doesn't tell you what you must eat, and it doesn't diagnose, treat or prescribe anything. What you eat stays your choice.
The numbers are estimates based on your profile and published sources, not measurements of your body. If you have a medical condition, an allergy or a worry about your health, talk to a qualified professional.
Your coach is your coach. Riali does not replace them.
3. Who can use it
You must be 18 or over. We do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 18. Your plates, targets and amounts are worked out for you, the account holder. They are not meant for anyone else, including children or teenagers in your home, whose needs are different.
4. Your account
- Give us accurate information. The guidance is only as good as what you tell us.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens through your account.
- Your account is for you. One person per account. Please don't share it or sell access.
- If a coach gives you a coach code, it unlocks access on the terms the coach arranged with us.
5. Paid access
- Some parts of Riali are free. Daily macro guidance stays free.
- Other parts need paid access. Paid access is prepaid for a fixed period (a month, a season or a year, as shown when you buy). It does not renew automatically. When the period ends, paid parts lock until you buy again. Your account and your free parts stay.
- New accounts get a 7-day free trial.
- Prices are in Kenyan shillings and shown before you pay. Payments are handled by Paystack, by card or M-Pesa. We never see or store your card or M-Pesa details.
- Beta prices. While Riali is in its beta, its prices are lower than they may be later. They can change after the beta. A new price is always shown before you pay, and never changes access you have already paid for.
- Access starts when your payment is confirmed.
6. No refunds
Because paid access starts straight away and doesn't renew, payments are not refundable. This does not limit any rights you have under Kenyan law.
If something goes wrong with a payment, for example you were charged twice or you paid and didn't get access, email us and we'll put it right.
7. Your health, allergies and supplements
- We ask for your allergies and the foods you avoid, and we leave them out of your guidance. Always read food labels yourself. We can't see what is in the food you buy.
- If food, eating or your weight is worrying you, please stop and talk to a health professional or someone you trust.
- Athletes are personally responsible for anything in their body under anti-doping rules, and supplements can be contaminated. Riali's supplement shelves are general information, not a recommendation to buy anything.
- Never delay or avoid medical care because of something you saw in Riali.
8. Using Riali properly
Please don't misuse Riali. That includes trying to break into it, copying or reselling its content, or using it in a way that harms other people.
9. Prices and food information
Prices in the shopping list are estimates and may differ from what you pay in a shop. Food values come from published sources, used with attribution: USDA FoodData Central (U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service) and the Kenya Food Composition Tables 2018 (FAO and Government of Kenya).
10. Our responsibility
We work to keep Riali accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always work or be error-free. To the extent the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses that arise indirectly from using Riali. Nothing in these terms limits responsibility we cannot lawfully limit.
11. Changes, and ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete my data. See "Deleting your Riali data" for what is removed and kept.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms.
- If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and any dispute will be decided by the courts of Kenya. If something goes wrong, please email us first at team@riali.app so we can try to sort it out.
13. RiRi, the AI helper
RiRi is an AI assistant inside Riali. You can ask it questions about your food, your training and how to use the app, and it answers using Riali's own nutrition rules and what you have told us about yourself.
RiRi comes with a paid plan. It is not part of free access. You can ask RiRi up to 200 questions a month. The count starts again on the 1st of each month, Nairobi time.
RiRi can be wrong. It is a computer program, not a person, and not a doctor, dietitian or coach. Its answers are general guidance based on published nutrition research, the same as the rest of Riali. Do not use RiRi to diagnose or treat anything, and do not use it in place of advice from a qualified professional. If something it says does not match what your doctor or your coach tells you, follow them.
Where your questions go. To answer you, RiRi sends your question, the recent messages in that conversation, and the parts of your profile it needs, to Anthropic, the company that makes the AI model Riali uses. Anthropic processes this outside Kenya. Your questions are not used to train anyone's AI model. Anthropic's own terms govern what it does with the data it receives.
What is kept, and where. Your conversation with RiRi stays on your device. Riali does not keep a copy of what you asked it on our servers. If you clear the app's data or use a different device, those conversations are gone and cannot be recovered.
"Let RiRi know you". You can let RiRi keep short notes about you, so you do not have to explain yourself again each time. This is optional, it is off unless you turn it on, and you can read, delete or switch off those notes at any time in Profile. Deleting them does not affect anything else in your account.
Things RiRi does for you. If you ask, RiRi can log today's training or a meal for you, up to three times a week, and open Near Me or your week or shopping list to save or send. She shows you what she'll save, and nothing is saved until you tap Save. She doesn't write meal plans or training programmes.
If you misuse it. We may limit or withdraw access to RiRi if it is used to abuse the service, to get around the question limit, or for anything other than the purpose described here. The rest of your access is unaffected.
14. Consistency rewards
- A day counts when you log its training (or a rest day) on My week and at least one of its meals on Meals. Five days in a week, Monday to Sunday, make a full week. A month's weeks are the ones that start in it.
- Three full weeks in a month take KES 50 off your next Monthly plan; four take KES 100 off. On a Season or Annual plan, a full month (four full weeks) adds 5 days of access instead.
- During the beta, rewards are shown but not paid. Nothing comes off a price until paid plans start, and we'll say in the app when they do.
- Rewards count that you logged, never what you ate. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged or passed to someone else, and apply to your next payment only. Logs made only to collect rewards, rather than to record what you did, don't count.
- We may change or end the rewards. We'll tell you in the app before a change takes effect, and a reward you have already earned stays.
